  1. there are a ton of museums here.. the coolest being the Museums of Civilization (it's technically in Gatineau, but it's just across the bridge from Parliament Hill)..

'The Market' (just east of Parliament Hill) and Sparks St (just south of Parliament) are probably the best places to shop if you don't want to get lost  :)

you should check out a site like Ottawa.ca and see what you like specifically, there's all kinds of stuff to do outdoors and so on..

  2. Definately check out the War Museum.

  3. BLUES FEST!!!

    I'm going twice :]

tickets aren't too pricey depending on dates

  4. Depending on when you're coming you can check out festivals.

Fringe Fest goes until the end of June

    BluesFest- July 3 - 13, 2008

    BeachFest- July 12

Chamber Music Festival- July 26 -August 9, 2008

    Ottawa Fury Soccer: June 7 - July 16, 2008

    Festival of Technology July 17 - 19, 2008

    Turkish Fest- July 26 - 27, 2008

Glengarry Highland Games (in Maxville) -August 1 - 2, 2008

Le Nordik in Old Chelsea (about a 10min drive from downtown) is having a Luna Blanca event " A unique relaxation, atmosphere and lounge music experience late at night during a full moon: 11:45 pm to 4 am"  on July 18

Orchestra's in the park July 17-20

  5. If your "few weeks" puts you here between July1st or July 14th, you can enjoy the Canada Day festivities downtown, and see ton's of shows at Bluesfest (Ottawa's largest music festival). There's also the Hope Beach Volleyball tournament around that time.

Lots going on... as the person above me mentioned, check the Ottawa.ca website for "touristy" stuff..
