  1. SORRY but 'charming and Paris'?

that's why you can't find any as the two don't go together.

  2. I'm Parisian an know friends who have a lovely guest-room furnished with antiques on the Ile Saint Louis, with a direct view on the Seine and en-suite bathroom and toilet.

You can contat them at www.ilenseine@voila.fr

  3. Take a look at http://www.hostelworld.com/findabed.php

  4. B&B's in the sense that I think you intend are not a Parisian phenomena. However, there are many small, relatively modestly priced hotels that serve a French style breakfast (which is to say coffee/tea/hot chocolate  and a baguette or croissant).

I usually stay at the Hotel St. Andre des Artes at 66 rue St. Andres des Artes in the 6th arr. Metro stop:Odeon, telephone 01 43 26 96 16, email:hsaintand@wannado.fr A double with ensuite toilet and shower costs 85 euros with breakfast included.

The building was constructed in 1601 or thereabouts and is a little rabbits warren of 35 rooms. No frills, no minibars, no TV and no elevator. The ancient floors have distinct waves in them and the stairtreads are worn smooth.

But its very, very Parisian in the Lost Generation, F. Scott, Hemingway, James Joyce sense. The site of the original Shakespere and company is a block away, the oldest cafe/restaruant in Paris, the Procope, is around the corner, the revolutionary Marat had his offices in the little alley across the street next to the Mazet, the bar where Jim Morrison had his last drink.

I certainly like it. I've been staying there about once a year every year for the last 35 years.
