I basically got nothing but old pebbles and marbles from my old fish tank. What should I buy for my new salt water fish tank? Also I got an Elite802 and an AquaStop System. Are they decent for a Salt Water Fish Tank? Also what should I buy at Pet Cetra? Any reccomended types of fish or other aqua creatures like crabs or something lol? I have a 30+ gallon fish tank. I basically got nothing for my new Salt Water Fish Tank. So help me out with EVERY single thing I need or could have thanks.

  1. A couple of good introductory books. If you have to ask this question, you need to do a lot of reading.

  2. You need live rock and live sand for a saltwater tank, not "old pebbles and marbles". You also need the correct SG with the correct salt, not table salt. Have you done your research? Saltwater is a VERY hard and time-consuming and money-sucking hobby.

    E-mail me for any questions!

EDIT: Ummm no. Pebbles are bad in general even for freshwater tanks. Saltwater requires live sand: http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/cat/info...

1 lb. per gallon and live rock 1 lb. per gallon.

EDIT 2: You need to wait a month or so before you can add any fish. This period of "waiting" is cycling the tank: http://saltaquarium.about.com/cs/bionitr...

  3. Don't go to petcentra yet. Go to Reeffrontiers.com

  4. I have to say,I can not spend 3 days typing out EVERYTHING you need to know. A good book to help you is the idiots guide to a saltwater aquarium.

  5. get 2 clown fish and 2 ofthose dory fish (from finding nemo!) um a couple fire shrimp...they are so cool, um and some more...

  6. dont get crabs. theyll eat the fish you have in there.

it depends on if you want an all fish aquarium, or a reef aquarium, or an aquarium with rocks. if you want an all fish aquarium, youll need to find out what the fish like to eat, how they like to live, where they like to live, etc. once you have that, youll need to go buy the suppiles they need(i.e.- if a certain fish you are getting likes to hide in rocks, go get some rocks that the fish can hide in)

for an aquarium with reefs or coral, youre going to need to get some calcium to add into the water to keep them alive. rocks, i dont think you need too much to keep a rock alive? hah...

but you will need a thermometer, salt water/salt water mix, a hydrometer, and some test kits.

on top of that, youre going to need your basic cleaning supplies, such as different sized plastic buckets or containers, a siphon tube or hose, an algae scraper or magnet, nets, and spare equipment pieces.

    OPTIONAL (below)

for good flow and circulation of water throughout your tank, i suggest you get a powerhead. depending on how big your tank is is going to depend on how many powerheads. if you decide to get a reef tank, a protein skimmer is a good tool to have handy. if you decide to use tap water to make the salt water mix for your tank, youre probably going to need a tap water filter. good chemicals to use on your fish are AmQuel by Kordon, which is a dechlorinater/ammonia destroyer, and RightNow Bacteria by Hiatt Distributors, which is used to help create biological bacteria to a new aquarium.

    hope i helped :]

  7. It depends on what type of fish you plan on putting in your tank. What ever you decide DO NOT PUT ANY FISH IN FOR AT LEASST TWO WEEKS after you have finished setting up your tank.Salt water fish need a certain kind and amount of bacteria that takes 2-4 weeks to grow in your tank.Other wise if you put fish in to soon they won't last and this could get expensive.
