Where are some good places to visit? I want to spend a week on a wioska...so where are some beautiful ones? i'm thinking of Filipow, is that okay? Is there anyplace to visit around there? What are some good foods there? How long is the flight? I've heard from a friend that people are very mean there? Is that true?

  1. apparently krakow is really lovely - its a typical bavarian looking city (despite being in poland)

i put a link for things to do there !

also as far as the polish people go i've only met a few and they have all been lovely so it may have just been a bad personal experience of that person who thought they were mean.

umm i know you can also get this soup and its put in a round bread roll instead of a bowl (that's really nice) - i forget the name though

chances are if you like german style food you will like this so i hope you like meat.

i think its two hours on a plane

  2. Well, Filipów is in the coldest area of Poland, so dress well, if you insist on going there. Tonight the temperature at night is going to be just 4 degrees above freezing.

Now as for the remaining questions - Filipów is far from otherwise interesting places so you might want to reconsider. I would recommend Mikołajki - about fifty miles from there, and plenty of accommodation. I know, of course, the present popularity of Filipów - it is the Rospuda river and lakes, the place of battle between the ecologists and the locals on where to build the ring road around Augustów. And since the locals want the road, they may be hostile towards those who oppose it. But otherwise they are most friendly and nice.

And as for length of the flight, you forgot to indicate - from where?
