Going to Puerto Rico?

Question

I have no idea where to start. So i thought this would maybe be the best place. =]

In the summer i am supposed to go to Puerto Rico for 2 months. I want to brush up on my spanish and i wanted to know if it would be cheaper to get an apartment for those 2 months or rent a hotel room? Which is the better choice? And what is the safest city?

Also is it possible to take a summer semester there for University? and would this be recognized in the states and in canada?
