What are the best places to eat? Are reservations necessary for most hotels or hostels? Is there an admission fee for all museums and exhibits? I've heard about the pit-pocket's, I usually carry a purse, am I better off putting my money in my pocket instead? Anything else I should know?

  1. The food is good almost anywhere in Italy.  In May you should be able to find hotels and hostels.  We always travel without reservations.  Most museums charge admission.... for some it's best to have a reservation... if you know when you're going to be there you can avoid lines.  Investigate if a Rome Card would be good for you.... if you visit enough museums or archaeological sites covered by the card, it can save you money.  Here's the Italian Government tourist site:  http://www.italiantourism.com/

For you money..... USE A MONEY BELT.  If you stay aware and use good common sense you will be fine.  Here are some of our tips on money:  http://www.mousetourstravels.com/money.h...

Travel light, explore and have fun... Italy is great.

  2. PICK-pockets. yea theyre bad. keep ur stuff in ur front pocket. and if you have to wear a purse, get on that is made of a sort of chain mail woven into it becuase theyll cut open the bottoms with razors and stel ur wallet out the bottom. or cut the strap that hangs on your shoulder and steal the whole thing. the kids do it too so watch out. everyone stinks like S**t on the subways. rie the tram to the spanish steps and right where you get off theres a little pizza place that i ate lunch and sometimes dinner at for about 6 of 6 days. its amazing.

  3. i'm also going thru rome in may but will continue on to Gubio. use a wallet and put it in a front pocket. restaurants are great---allow 3 hours to enjoy your dinner. must eat the ice cream!!!! sites are free.

  4. Just carry a small purse or a f***y pack and you should be fine.  I would recommend making reservations at hotels, if you want to stay at a nice one.  There are so many restaurants, so there is no need unless you know of one that you definitely want to go to.  Most museums require admission fees, so be prepared for that.  Oh and wear very comfortable shoes, you will be on your feet all day!  Have fun!

  5. wear a money belt and stay away from the men they are only after your booty

  6. well italy has hawt guyzz!!

and the food ther is good

    i heart italian food!

  7. As to reservations for hotels and hostels, it depends when you travel  to Italy. Best times (no need) are in early spring and fall. Most museums in Italy charge some amount to get in. You might want to reserve these lines take forever in busy seasons. (I waited two hours to get into the Ufizzi Gallery in Florence, no joke...)
