  1. I am from Guatemala. travel agent for more that 20 years, I recomended, light cloth because the weather is hot, about hotel, CAMINO REAL, tennis shoes, a lot of sun lotion, a nice camera or video,

    Have a nice trip

    GENESIS

  2. Yes, definitely wear breathable clothing. It's hot and muggy there. Afterall, it is the jungle. I would suggest a hat, but forget the sunglasses. There's too much to see through tinted lenses. Insect repellant is a must, as well as comfortable walking/hiking shoes. Flip-flops are a big NO if you want to climb any of the temples. The stone stairways and vertical wooden steps can be tricky enough with worrying about losing a shoe.

Bring water and maybe a light snack, though there are vendors inside the park selling these around the central plaza area, and there is a grass hut restaurant inside the park somewhere that has really delicious food. I'd recommend the beef over the chicken, but that's a matter of your eating habits. Ask about the restaurant from a park employee at the entrance where the trails begin. A map is useful if you can get your hands on one before you go. It's a huge place!

Travel light, but be sure to bring your camera. Most importantly though, bring your sense of adventure and the ability to be awed! If you're staying at the hotel inside the park, the electricty goes out at 9p.m.

  3. It depends if you are going during rainy season or not.  You don't need anything except a good pair of walking shoes.  There is one Temple to the left which is down a long, desolate trail (IV or V, I think) where they had some incidents of robbery, so go with someone else.

I stayed at the Jaguar Inn or Lodge right outside the park, which is much better than commuting from Flores.  It is very nice and calm at night too.

  4. Oh it is so beautiful there, you are going to love it! First off, good walking shoes are a must.  Secondly, light clothing since it is very warm.  A camera and/or video recorder to get plenty of pictures to capture the memories.  Sunscreen so you don't get all sun burned.  And I would bring some bottled water to keep hydrated.  Other than that, just have fun and take your time enjoying the sites!

  5. your going to love it! the sights are breathtaking  and so is all the wildlife. i recommend really good shoes, your probably going to walk alot. the clothing  depends on the weather, i personally love the weather of tikal but don't forget a camera.have fun and good luck!!

  6. Insect repellent, most definitely.

  7. You'll need lots of water, it's a long trail so you could probably get dehydrated.  Organize your tour so that you don't walk the same way you came, take small breaks because it's a long way, so program your schedule. If you are a bird lover, go very early in the morning, you'll see amazing species.

On clothing, I recommend cotton clothes, you need to feel fresh so try t-shirts or polo shirts... also wear shorts or if you are going to wear pants, wear cotton or any other fresh fabric... Because of the long walk, I recommend sneakers or any other rubber shoes.

There might be mosquitos, so be sure you put some repellant.Try not to be caring too much luggage because you might get tired, also sleep well the night before. And because of the hot weather, be sure to carry pills if you suffer from sunstroke.

    Have a nice trip!

  8. clothes that breath, it's really hot and sweaty. It's huge and takes a while, dress comfortably! So worth the time.  Stay at one of the local hotels 'Tikal Inn' or Jungle Lodge'  they are fantastic.

  9. Jeans and Polo shirt will be OK, also a good pair of snickers.

Have fun specially when you're at the top of temples, beautiful views To take pictures.
