  1. I think going to an open casket funeral is a way of saying good-bye. Its a real/unreal time if you understand what Im saying. I do not like it when the people are all dolled up in away , they would never look in life. My husband went to his grave in his blue jeans and favorite shirt  with pictures of his family and mementos tucked in with him..

  2. yeah i get the feeling that they are looking at me looking at them frm above..i get hebegebe's

  3. kinda...i think open casket funerals are pretty creepy...

  4. Yes.  I think it is common to feel that way since death seems such an "unnatural" state to us.

Actually, I had a horrible nightmare that my father DID sit up in his casket, but then died again, than sat up, and died again.  In this dream he did this several times until I screamed at him to please just die because the emotional trauma he was causing me was just too great!  My father was alive at the time, but he had Alzheimer's disease, so I felt the dream was very much like the turmoil that caregivers go thru while their loved ones slip away little by little.

  5. Been to several open casket funerals and really do not understand why anyone would want an open casket.  I prefer the funerals where they put a really good picture of the deceased (while he or she was still alive and looked alive) on the casket.  No dead body looks like it did when that person was alive no matter how much makeup the funeral parlor applied.  When my grandmother (whom I loved dearly) died, I went up to view her in the casket and almost blurted out (loud) "hey, this is not Grandma, who is this in here and where is my Granny???"  Didn't look anylike like my grand.  I think next time I have to go to a funeral, I'm not going to go up and view the body--just something really really really morbidly macabre about it.

  6. Yeah, sometimes I just stare like there gonna start moving or sit up and start talking....it's freaky. I watch to see if they are breathing.

I just have to keep reminding myself they can't possibly do that...they have no blood and sometimes their eyes & mouths are sown shut.

  7. I have been to open casket funerals and I never thought that.

Maybe you've seen too many horror movies.
