Going to a resort in a few weeks. Have found out they consistantly overbook. What should I do?

Recently in reading reviews about the resort I am going to, I have found that 1/4 of the people who go there end up being told the resort is booked and they get sent to a different resort of a lesser quality. Of course they don't get any money refunded. The resort is in Mexico. Would I have any recourse if this happens to me? I booked through Expedia. Thanks.

  1. I would think that Expedia would be able to help you out.  I would call and confirm your reservations now.  Then again, then one more time and then the day before you leave.  That way they will know you are serious.  Record the names of who you talk to the dates the times and any confirmation numbers they give you.  Sometimes I think people type in negative reviews without ever being at the place.

  2. It sounds like the people there at that resort town have found themselves a good scam.  I would contact expedia and have them check them out. If they're doing this often then maybe the best way is to take their ability to overbook away from them by expedia and the other travel sites denying them access.

I would also contact the resort right away in person and confirm your reservation.  That may be enough to be sure that you're in the 75% group that get to stay there
