My husband's family is from England. We were invited to a wedding over there.

When we were married 16 years ago, the lady relatives all wore hats. Do they still wear hats to formal events/ Or is this considered old fashioned?

  1. You don't have to wear one. It's normally older women who do this anyway.

  2. Nah normally just the mothers of the bride and groom wear them

  3. It is a daytime wedding, wear a hat.  If evening, do not.  They do not wear hats to "formal" events, only to informal or semi-formal.  A hat would be worn with a suit, pearls, etc., or a tailored dress.  The more formal the attire, the less a hat is required.  Look at some pictures of Princess Diana for a clue as to how to dress fashionably...her style was classic and remains in good taste.
