I use to go to a Jr. High in a city I didn't live in, and planned on going to the Highschool in that city. Unfortunetly things didn't turn out the way I wanted and now I have to go to a highschool where I don't know anybody. The things that scare me is I don't know anything about the school, since I never got a tour of it. Another thing is the fact that I don't know ANYBODY. Not one person, I'm going to be a loner. I'm not even going to bother taking a lunch or lunch money because I don't know who to sit with. School starts on Thursday and I'm extremely nervous. What do I do?

  1. You will be ok.  First, peer groups change big time in high school.  Now, you do deserve a tour of the school.  Go to the counselor and ask for one.  If that does not work check out the building for yourself.  Try to get there early and walk around. Check out where computer labs, library, and cafeteria are.  Don't be afraid to join a club or two to meet people.  Visit the school's website and see what it looks like.  Don't worry.

  2. Try to find someone who has a close schedule to yours. At lunch just sit at any table and people will come sit by you. People will probably be interested in you cause they don't know who you are. Just be yourself and you will make friends in no time.

  3. I've moved a lot 2 almost every 2 years, but moving sometimes isn't as bad as it seems and sometimes it is.when you don't know anyone just try to be bold and don't hesitate to answer questions or start talking to other people. other students may have to same problem as u so try to find them . and talk to them about things that interest you. chances are that at least someone at your new school like the same things u do or are like you. if you talk to someone there for like a minute when you see them talking to other people go in and be part of the discussion.

    good luck.

  4. I'm going into grade 10, and I was kind of in your spot last september.

I knew people at my new high school, but wasn't friends with anyone.

I find it's really easy to make friends when you're in grade 9, because a lot of other people are looking for friends, too! It's like everyone is starting a new.

Try joining a club or sports team that you're interested in. High schools are full of things like band, chess, soccer, and leadership groups.

  5. you'll find friends, every freshman is nervous about the first day of highschool

  6. Wow, we have a lot in common. I just started high school last week, and trust me, it's not as bad as you think. I also was the only person from my school to go to my high school, but I made a couple of friends the first day. If your school has freshman orientation day, that's the day where you know where your classes are at and who your teachers are.  It's really not that bad. There are people who are going to be just like you, lonely and lost, and you can befriend them. Just smile and say hi. At lunch, arrive early and get a table. That way, people will come by and say, "Can I sit here?" Don't be nervous. It's really awesome!

Hope this helps and enjoy high school! ;D

  7. this is almost the same situation i was in before i was going to start my freshman year of high school. i also didnt know anybody. in a week, ill be starting my sophomore year. this may not help as much as you want it to, but all i cansay is that this is your nervousness speaking. before i went, i remember posting up a billion questions like this, because i didnt know what else to do to prepare. but know that everything will fall into place, and even though the kids there may know more people than you do, they are just as nervous. i actually came across lots of people like myself when i began high school last year. just be confident, talk to everyone, pay attention iin class, and youll be fine. i promise.
