  1. There is great beer and chocolate, and also great french fries and waffles in Brussels - so if you love food & drink - don't miss any of those three.

On different days of the week there are lovely markets in different areas of Brussels, you should definitely check out the little one in the Place du Chatelain - great people there.

Shopping is great on Avenue Louise, the Autonium is pretty neat, and of course don't miss the Grand Place or the Mannekin Pis.  You can also walk around the area where many of the European Union institutions are popping up, it's like the DC of Europe (but just sort of starting to take form.)

There are also beautiful galleries, parks, and churches - explore and have fun, Brussels is wonderful!

Also the sort train ride to Bruges is worthwhile, it is gorgeous, so if you have time definitely go there and take a canal ride and just marvel in its unrivaled beauty.

  2. Manneke Pis, Royal Palace, Royal gardens, Big Market, old buildings, Churches & Cathedrals, try the beer & brussel waffles, chocolates, fries with mayo, ....

you can find more about brussels here:

  3. try to get to bruges!! It is a gorgeous city!

  4. Yeah, there are several cities u should visit such as Brussels, Bruges, Antwerpen, Gent, etc...

As for what to visit in Brusssels, yeha, I completely agree with twinzz

  5. If you only have one day or two :

From downtown Brussels towards uptown Brussels :

    Stick and roam around the

1)main medieval square of Brussels (la Grand-Place), its surrounding galeries (Royales, des Princes, de la Reine), chocolate museum, Manneken Pis & his sister Jeanneke Pis statues and little alleys with a huge choice of restaurants, cafés, pubs, snackbars, chocolate shops, lace shops and ice-cream parlours, etc...

2)Place royale & surroundings - Royal Palace, Royal Parc, musea (e.g. Music Museum for its fabulous architecture & other musea)

    3) Place du Sablon et du petit Sablon and surrounding galeries, cafés, chocolate makers, etc...

    and

4)de Rue Haute + Place du Jeu de Balle >>>Justice Palace and lots of home/decor shops open on Sunday on the Rue Haute and Rue Blaes + Big open Sunday flea market on the Place du Jeu de Balle, local cafés and restaurants with local bands, an eclectic crowd, etc.... This area is especially busy on Sundays.

From here (rue Haute>> take the lift to go uptown and enjoy a beautiful birds'view of Brussels and then you can walk towards uptown Brussels : Boulevard de Waterloo, Avenue de la Toison d'Or, Avenue Louise, Goulot Louise, etc...where you'll find all the poshy shops.

All these places can be reached by easy walking as they are all very near each other.

Tip : wear comfortable shoes as most alleys and streets are cobblestoned.

You may want to check the following website for more info + for special happenings that may be taking place while you are in Brussels :

    e-Brussels website

While on the Grand-Place, visit the Tourist information Center which is situated on the ground-flour of the townhall for more specific sights/sites you'd like to see.

A little bit outside of Brussels (subway 81 or taxi needed) you can also visit the Brussels' Atomium ( equivalent of the Eiffel tower in Paris) and the "Mini Europe"parc. This is a complex/parc with different activities.

If you have more time, visit Brugge -The Venice of the North- and Namur. Both cities are very different although they are both medieval cities with cobblestoned streets and little alleys.

    Have a nice trip!

    Hope this helps.
