It seems that all that navy seals and spec ops personnel went to college before enlistment is it better for or a waste of time.

  1. that's a personal decision.  I have a lot of soldiers in my platoon who are taking courses online with help of the army, or going to use the GI Bill when they get out to pay for college.  I have  few that have degrees before they enlisted. If you have a bachelors degree before entering 9 times out of 10 you enter as a specialist in the army(i cant speak for other branches).

Does a college degree make you a better soldier, maybe.  One of my project troopers, has a degree, and dropped out of rotc.  He lacks motivation, and is only in now, to fulfill his rotc contract,  he has stayed a PFC for the last 2 years.   On the other hand one of my Squad leaders,  has a degree, and made E-6 in 5 years,  he beleives he wouldn't have made it that fast without a degree.

Now im not saying that a degree is a waste of time.  what i am saying is it is importants, but what is more important is the trooper, and what kind of person they are.  And you might want to think about what your goals are for the future, if you want that degree.  or if you have the money to go to college now, versus with help of the GI Bill.  Good luck

  2. basically ... it doesn't matter as long as you can score what you need to on the ASVAB.
