How hard would it be, and how much would it cost to get into a college in england if i go to a public school in the united states? What colleges are best in england?

First, know that the term "college" in the UK is used differently than in the US. I think you're talking about going to university, like Harvard, Oxford, etc. Correct?

Your having gone to a public school in the US won't hamper your ability to go to university in the UK, if you want to do that. However, know that, in order to get into most English universities, you need to have more than a standard US high school diploma. You need either an IB diploma instead, or a regular high school diploma plus at least three AP exams, scored 4 or higher. That would give you the equivalent to what English students have when they're applying to university (the equivalent to A levels.) So for you, make sure you're on the AP track at school, and then you'll be able to apply to a UK university.

In addition, note that, for some UK universities and courses (their word for majors), you need specific A levels for each course - so you couldn't just take ANY AP exams. You need to take the AP exams that correspond to the A levels needed for the course (major) you're considering. So check the admissions pages for the universities you're interested in, see what A levels are required for the course you want, and make sure you take those subjects for your AP exams.
