  1. It would be very hard for you to get accommodation in a Hotel if you have not booked already because there are 2 festivals on in Galway in August. The Arts festival and the Galway races.

But if you do get accommodation then you will be there for the best time of the year. The atmosphere will be amazing. Quite safe too but only place to be careful of is outside Supermacs on Eyre Square if there after 1 AM when night clubs all close. Not very dangerous but 1 or 2 thugs and the odd pick pocket that disgiuse them selves by trying to sell roses.

Other then this Galway is maybe one of the safest cities in Ireland if not Europe.

Try Flannery's hotel 2 km outside city great atmosphere too!

  2. stayed in the city centre, there is a great atmosphere, people are nice, your near to great pubs and restaurants

  3. Galway's great craic.Dead safe.Nice holiday atmosphere.Salthill's the place to go so aim for B&B's in that area.Enjoy.

  4. hay sounds great afraid ive never been but the source below will give you loads of information to help you and the hostel world link will help with cheap good accommodation

hope this helps and have a blast

  5. Not sure if you mean visiting County Gallway or Galway city.

I can only base my answer on a short holiday myself, but:

Safe - Yes, Ireland is about as safe as you could hope for.

I stayed in a hostel right in the city centre, a bit noisy but clean, friendly etc, and Irish tourist places are generally very good. Lots of bars etc in the city to suit all tastes.

I used it as a base for exploring the area. Outside the city itself, the buses are, ... sporadic.. to say the least.

The coast and the nearby lakes are pretty.

If you are John Wayne fan take the bus to Cong for the day ("The Quiet Man" was filmed there) Some nice walks around Cong too

  6. I went to Galway once but it was to Killary to an adventure centre so that is probably no help....i know people who went to Westport...they had fun....and Spiddle for irish college....

i'm sorry for this pointless answer i know it's no help but i rarely see anyone else from Ireland on Y!A so HEEEEEEEEEEY!!!
