  1. apart from athens, there is not much else.even athens is boring after u have seen it once.

the people arent really that friendly, and the greeks dont really care or respect thier natural enviroment(throwing cigartetts and rubbish on rural pathways).

i wish the ancient greeks lived in greece and continued thier culture, but after they were lost in the slavic migrations, those great people will never be seen again :(((

  2. Shopping can be good in Greece, but besides there is so much to see and learn in a new country, I bet you'll  forget all about shopping.

Try to learn before you visit the country some historical facts and look ahead in Google the places you plan to visit.

This way you'll have better idea of what you see when you get there. After all, vacations are about fun, not shopping:)

    Have fun!

PS: Some people here, eg. c.starling above have no idea about Greece, yet they are determined to bad mouth it.

One time she said she saw "Greek women beating another woman in a touristy island" (LOL),another time "her friend was asked if she'll get pregnant for job purposes" and now "her friend lost her little girl in Greece and nobody cared"....

What can I say, some people have great imagination, maybe she should use it to write a fiction story instead

  3. u get to go to tons of historical landmarks. the parthenon, the colosseum, some fountain that i forgot the name of, and so on. hope u have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not to menton the food too =]]

  4. The scenery is absolutely BEAUTIFUL. You don't say where you are going IN Greece but it's absolutely amazing. The flight going over there sucks (we had a layover in Frankfurt, Germany) but Athens is beautiful. The Acropolis is breathtaking, with panorama views of the Parthenon, the Erechtheum (sp?), the Propylaia, and views of the city itself. If you see the Acropolis at night, be sure to climb the Areopagus ("Ares' Hill") near the base. It offers BEAUTIFUL views of the city skyline!

Oh, and patrick d, the Colosseum is in Rome, not Greece...

  5. A PLETHERA OF EXCELLENT SHOPS especially jewllery shops .coutier..furs. ...etc..if you got the  stash...belive me there be alot of happy store owners to expirate you in all your needs....for my advice about sight seeing ..first and most important  get comfortable shoes and a very good map of athens in english.laungage should not be a promblem most athenians could be understood in thier broken if not perfect english..and the food is to die for....rather enjoy.....just one thing take in a deep breath DONT RUSH .just lay back and take it all in..an experince  of a life time..NA EXETAI KALI DIASKEDASI.....(do have a good/great entertained time)

  6. Truth to say that the Greeks got there ahead of us.  Everything you want from a city is laid before you at Athens.

Greece is not boring or dull - the sun shines and the wine flows and the music plays and in an instant you can go back 3,000 years or stay in the modern world.  You choose - it's a democracy.

  7. The climate, beaches and scenery are wonderful.  Don't think you'll reckon much to the shopping though!

  8. There are tons of good shops in Greece, Greece follows the Western fashion, plus we have some good Greek designers in Greece as well, so fashion there is more ahead than the American one. You will find shoes, clothes, accesories, all in the latest style :)

  9. You don't say were in Greece there are some good shops I love the jewellery and the local markets

  10. Well I was there 2 times only, and I was not happy. First of all my friend lost her little girl (she turned the head for a second, and the girl was gone), when we went to the police they didn't even wanna talk to us because we are from Macedonia.......

What kind of people will turn of their back on a lost girl???? Even if we have disagreements about our name..???? That's so  unacceptable !!!

That's why this year we are going to Turkey, they have beautiful beaches, lovely scenery, good food, better music, and the HOSPITALITY AND THE PRICES ARE MUCH, MUCH BETTER....
