  1. just dress like you normally do here. Italians love americans (especially italian teenagers)

  2. oh so happy ive been dying to answer a question on this topic. i lived in milan and heres the skinny. go online to italian  websites to get ideas. jeans and a medium tightness for a shirt is a must. some nice indoor football shoes. (well if your a guy) and for a woman. wear fitted jeans and chic shoes with a top that you would wear out with your girlfriends. think express or the limited. plus while your there pick up some stuff at the markets (they are delectable)

another idea is to get involved on some football (soccer) smarts. it helped me a lot that i play soccer as well. be kind as usual and go on the back roads for food. your family should know that already. just chill with them, they know the ropes. you'll have a blast and on the topic of shorts for women. not too short they will make fun of you. ps. the germans and the people from the netherlands are the nicest people

  3. have really cute shoes . over there everyone has amazing ones! hahahah

  4. Dress like Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20 and you will fit the mode

  5. we dress like this..

  6. Why are you afraid to look like a tourist? Italians love tourists and go out of their way to help them. On the other hand Europeans dress more or less alike, with Italians and French a little more elegant because they appreciate style. Although Friuli is a border region there is hardly any difference from the rest of North Italy. It all depends on where you are going (Coast or Mountains?). I would dress just as you feel, as you usually do, which will make you feel comfortable. This will also give you the chance to buy something chic when you get there (Udine and Trieste are very fashionable).

    Have a nice stay.
