Hi, I was charge with Driving while under suspension, and i have court this Friday. The proscecutor want jail time, and i might get it, if they get there way. Now the judge will ask me "Do you have anything to say before i impose sentence",

I was wondering what is the best thing to say to the judge to avoid prison. I have a lawyer but i want all the help i could get. Thank you.

  1. Have your friends, neighbors and employers write letters of support and get them to your lawyer and to the judge fast.  Like now! By Friday, maybe you'll get 82 minutes like Nicole Ritchie did.

    Good luck!

  2. Let the judge know that you have made arrangements so that will not happen again.  Appologize for it happening.  Offer to take a driving course.  Offer to do community service.  Just a few ideas.

  3. Request to lower the penalty and the fines but promise not to commit the same mistakes again.

  4. if you are guilty....say "thankyou"

  5. admit you have this problem (weather you believe it or not) respectfully.denying anything before sentencing may get you more time.denial is a bad subject at that time. but listen to your lawyer.

  6. Just be honest about your finances to the judge first. Say "Your honor I am unable to pay such a large fine at this time I did try and save the money to do so but was unable too save as much as needed." Be sure to show the judge what your earnings are and how  much you have to pay for your daily up keep. it may not help but its a lot better to tell the judge rather than hope he thinks of asking you.

  7. Tell him that the only reason you drove was becuase you had to pick up his daughter and take her to get a pregnancy test. he should hook you up then. Goodluck
