Going to london for first time...how much should I get in pounds per day for two people?

I would first start by asking where do you want to stay, it can cost an arm and a leg.

But lets put that aside, get a travel card each day, you get them from subway station ticket machines as well, beware the Taxies.

Do you smoke...bring some with you they cost $10.00 a twenty pack here.

You can enjoy yourself on a budget in London, like has been said, free Museums, and lots of famous places to see.

River boats....I used to work on them, are a very comfortable cheap way of seeing a lot without putting up with the crush.

If you have £50.00 a day and spend wisely I think that would be enough.

London is awesome, but it is very expensive! Just take double the amount of money you plan to spend, seriously, so if you have an allowance of about $1,000 per person, expect to get about 500 pounds back! and yes! everything costs double than what it does in the states.

Depends on what you plan to do.

There's plenty of free things, museums and galleries, all within walking distance of London city centre, take a picnic and bottled water in a cool bag, and you can do a couple of days in London for virtually nothing.

the majority of museums are free (thanks New Labour!) but as far as taking cash I wouldn't worry too much...you can use credit/debit cards almost everywhere..inc buying tube/train tickets.There are as many atm's as there are Starbucks (ie on every corner just about!)

Make sure you buy Oyster cards for tube trips as its much quicker and cheaper that way
