I assume you are going to Marmaris. Which airport are you arriving at - Dalaman, Bodrum, Antalya.......?

You haven`t really specified where you are actually going; but there is a light- rail/metro system that can take you from the airport to the center of Istanbul and to the bus terminal in Esenler (if you are traveling outside the city).

Other than that, I wouldn`t recomend using the municipal bus since the drivers will probably not speak any English, and taxi fares to the center of the city will cost you around 60 to 80 YTL (~$45-60). This is expensive compared to the ticket you will have to purchse for the rail. (~$3-5)
