I was considering going to an online school for my junior and senior year. I will be going to PA cyber if I do go, and it is accredited. I do not like my highschool and i dont even talk to too many people there. All i do is hang out with like 2 people and my bf... I want to do better in school, but my regular highschool I do not even learn anything . i am not good at my math and when i ask my teacher she says to go back and learn it myself. Is this a wise choice?

  1. I am currently attending an online school and I really enjoy it.  I have been homeschooled my whole life up until this year when I decided to go with an online school.  I have also found out that online schools are NOT for everyone, you need to be self-motivated and willing to work long hours each day for your work.  Some people I have met online with this school have not been able to really enjoy online schooling.  So I know it is not for everyone, and I am not saying that it isn't for you, but you need to think about if you will be willing to work extra hard and maybe even working harder than in a regular school.  When you work online here are some things that I do to help me do better:  I create a schedule weekly so I keep on task, I write all my assignments down that are due and I am able to get things done easier that way.  I am also taking a few classes that aren't too hard, so it does make my work easier.  But next year I am planning on taking some harder courses, like AP and Honors courses because this year doesn't seem as challenging and it could be and I also want some good classes that will get me into a good college because I am going to go on to get a teaching degree after high school.  I am also currently a sophomore, and I think that if you are struggling in the public school, online school might be a good choice for you because you may work better with some one-on-one time with teachers.  Especially for math if that is where you are struggling the most!  I hope I was able to help you out!! :)

  2. It sounds like you are dedicated to learning, so I think a virtual charter would be great for you.  You might look into all the various options for them in PA.  There are many.  We've used the K12 curriculum (as independent HS'ers) for five years.  PAVCS and Agora use it:

  3. If you are self-motivated and dedicated to learning, then online homeschooling might work out nicely for you.  Here's some information that may help:

In addition to hopefully providing a better learning experience, you may have more time for other activities and making new friends.  You can still see your best friend in the afternoons and on weekends.

    Good luck making your decision!
