Going to places alone.

How do you feel about going to places alone? And no, by going places alone, I don't mean going down the block to the grocery store to pick up a couple of groceries, or going to the gym alone, or going to work alone. I'm talking about going to social places like the movies, to eat out alone, or even to a club alone. Do you find it a loser thing to do? Why or why not? Do you ever do it? Explain your reasoning please, thank you.

  1. I don't have a problem going places alone.  I've gone on vacation alone before.  I don't go to clubs alone, I feel safer going with my friends (especially if I know I'll be drinking).

  2. It depends on your mindset and why you do it ...  I go to the movies and out to eat alone all the time ...  we don't watch TV and there are many movies my BF and girlfriends aren't interested in ...  so I catch them alone after a really long day at work, i feel relaxed and ready for qualtiy time when i get home, rather than venting about my day ...  I like to eat out alone, especially at lunch b/c it is the only time I get to myself where I am not interrupted ...  I enjoy my sudoku and sometimes in the evenings, a glass of wine with my meal ...

don't do clubs alone, though ...  that's much more fun when i am with my friends ...  the only people i know who go to clubs alone are usually looking for a "date" ...

  3. Definitely not a looser thing to do, but it is awkward for me. I often wish I could get myself to go but I find the best I can do is a beer and a meal at the bar.

  4. I basically won't go to a dance club by myself because I know it looks too wierd and if I go to a nice restaurant by myself I only sit at the bar. Other than that I just do whatever I want and enjoy not having to wait for someone or listen to them talk, and talk and ask why I don't talk.

  5. I would never go to the movies, or a club alone.  I'm just too scared to be by myself and wonder what others are thinking of me. The only time I can go out to eat alone is subway next door to my office because I know all of the ladies there, and I'm a regular.  I would also think it's weird to go out to a nice restaurant alone.  Fast food places I would say doesn't really matter.
