  1. When I went to Sandals I tried to tip, and was told by a fearful looking employee that they couldn't take tips, if they did they could be fired. I'm convinced the management had cameras, plus a lot of sandals employees actually live at the resort.... oh and I would never stay there again there are so many nicer resorts for less

  2. Your not really supposed to tip them but some of the employees will accept it discreetly.

We stayed at the RIU right next door to Sandals (it was a much nicer resort)

Instead we left a lot of our health and beauty products after we left. The maids are allowd to take those after you leave. They were very thankful.

  3. Change your plans...I would never go to a Sandals resort again..go to Couples!! We had the best time there and have returned 3 times so far. The have 4 resorts on the island. Best time you will ever have.

  4. At sandals, everything is included......that includes tips and gratuity. As far as a little "gift" of perfume, candles, beauty products, it depends on the person. As it is, tipping is basically taboo.

Visit the sandals website for more details:

  5. At many resorts there is a "no tipping" policy and that policy is officially enforced.  However, often guests do indeed tip.  If you find good service approach the worker and ask, discreetly if it is ok to tip.  If that worker says it is ok then roll up a dollar in your hand and shake hands leaving the dollar in the worker's hand.

Please note that at some resorts it is absolutely forbidden to tip.  You need to get a feel for yours and your servers.  If the supervisor is nearby there will be no tipping.  Talk to those you want to tip discreetly.  They can indeed lose their job.

  6. As far as resort Staff, you don't tip. They even wear little buttons that say "I do not accept tips". BUT, people like the baggage carriers at the airport, the shuttle driver, the tour guides, anyone NOT wearing a Sandals uniform WILL expect a tip.
