Going to school (university) while in your third trimester?

Ive come into a bit of a conflict...here it is...Im due late Nov and the semester starts this Monday (Aug 25). I have a few choices drop all my classes and just work or keep 1 or 2 classes (with professors approval) and work (nothing serious just 20 hours). BTW: Im on a semester system and would have to go to school after the birth.

So im just wondering if anyone else has gone to school while being pregnant and how thats worked out for them. I dont see too many pregnant women on my campuses, so any experiences that you would like to share would be welcomed.

  1. I know you are struggling with walking around campus looking pregnant and working this semester into your pregnancy.  First off, I know most girls are not pregnant on campus but be proud of your baby bump and get those classes in now while you can.

I had a close girlfriend who was pregnant last semester at our local university and took classes up until she delivered.  Her thought was to get them in now while she had more freedom and she realized with being married and pregnant she was in a different spot in her life then most college students.  She was not there to make friends but rather get a degree.  She still made friends and just think the average girl desires to be in the same spot and as someday.  Also, all of her professors were more then willing to work with her.

Now this summer she took one course and can't seem to find the time between baby and college.  She is so thankful she got so much done in the spring semester since she will be taking a lot less classes per semester until she finishes.

    Best of luck to you!

  2. First of all, I don't think professors would approve.  What if you go into labour a month early?  What if you have a c-section?  What if you end up re-hospitalized?  What if your baby needs to stay inthe hospital?

There are too many possible conflicts.  I think you'd be wasting your time and money.

  3. You might want to take the semester off or just take online classes. Think how hard its gonna be studying for finals with a newborn baby.

  4. First off, congrats to you! I  was going through school when I was pregnant, and had no problems. My pregnancy worked out well because my daughter was due the end of May after finals (great timing). It shouldn't be a problem as long as your professors are aware and are ok with you missing class. I wouldn't push it and would consider taking only a few classes this semester. I finished school and was glad that I decided to continue through rather than taking time off. Believe in yourself and with some serious dedication you can totally do it. Good luck with school and the baby.

  5. Hey!! I start school Tuesday at the Univ. and am due with my boy on October 15th. I emailed the prof's and asked for a time to talk with them and will email them all assignments i missed(i am taking 13 credits this semester) all my professors were actually proud of me for continuing with my schooling and have proved to be a good support system.  I will also be working 10 hrs a week at an on-campus job and will bring the baby with me to class and work(except for one class that is to full to accomadate a baby) so, best of luck!! and would def recommend a conference.  You are making a good choice, oh, and usually if one class is to hard, you can take it pass/fail, so it doesnt s***w with your grade or gpa so ask about that!

  6. does  your school offer on line courses? that is what i am doing while pregnant (due mid. october) and after i have the baby. i work as a teacher so i will be back to start school and then while on mat. leave i will continue with my courses, on line.......you might want to look into that option for continuing with school  ....either way, all the best to you!!!
