Going to the Dominican Republic and...?

Question

I'm torn of wear in particular to stay. I want to go to a lively city, nothing dead with nothing to do. I was thinking either Punta Cana or Puerto Plata. Any suggestions? Which one has the most active night life? Thanks!

Just got back this weekend.....Puerto Plata is the better location.  The town has plenty to do (as opposed to Punta Cana where the nearest town is about 40miles away).  I love Cabarete and there's a small strip with a few clubs on it so you just go out all nite.  Mangu club in Puerto Plata is pretty good too.  Have fun!

Hi,

The best is Puerto Plata (north coast), bigger beaches, more to see and more to do! The small town of Puerto Plata is about 10 min from any hotel in the area.

Blue Bay Resorts 4*(adults only) in Playa Dorada

Gran Ventana Resort 3,5 * in Playa Dorada (family resort)

Iberostar 5* in Costa Dorada

Gran Oasis Marien 4,5 * in Costa Dorada

Sun Village 4* in Cofresi

Hacienda Resorts 4* in Cofresi

Riu's (3) in Maimon 3,5 to 5* ( 20 min from town)

I think the best area and most active night life is in Puerto Plata.

Lots of clubs and activities to enjoy.

Punta Cana is more for tourists that want to hang at the resort and enjoy the caribbean beaches.

In Puerto Plata, Sosua or Cabarete is the most action. I do live here already over 22 years. Punta Cana is beautiful, but less to do, except if you have a rent a car. To me North Coast  is the best, that's why I live here. There are endless beaches, shops, bars and restaurants, discothecs, casinos, pubs just everything you need. Take at least 2 weeks to see most. Have a good trip.

my advise is dont go 2 out of 4 family members spent 6 out of 8 days in the hospital punta cana, resort grang paradise=h**l
