  1. wear a life jacket, then u have to float back up, you'll be fine, also, once you jump and under water kick, so u can get back up faster. When you kick, dont kick up and down, kick in front and behind you, and try to pull yourself up with you arms, even if you dont do this, the life jacket will bring back up to the surface.

  2. Its probably better that you either :

    A) tell her you cant swim, and learn how to paddle and swim basically so you dont get hurt.

    B) just paddle in the water, and say your scared of heights or something so you dont end up jumping.

It really isnt very safe to jump in the water from a cliff and go under water if you dont know how to swim, especially with undercurrents. Not only could it be extremely dangeroous, but can also ruin the day if someone has to end up rescuing you.

Its better to just explain your situation so you will be safe.

The weekend is still a few days away, you can go to your local swimming pool and try your hand at a bit of swimming so you can still enjoy the day.

or... you could use and inflatable rubber ring around your waist or water wings, so when you jump in, your go straight to the top- though the water wings may be a bit embarrassing.

    hope this helps!

  3. I suggest to not go into the lake at all because it is harder to swim in a lake than in a pool and if you can't swim, its best not to jump into a pool.  But if you really want to go, wear a life jacket and make sure it is a perfect fit so you don't drown.

  4. DO NOT JUMP OFF THAT CLIFF.  If you can't swim, don't go.

  5. All I have to say is WEAR A LIFE JACKET! I went to the river recently for the first time with some friends, and I jumped off into a rapid that was really intense and almost drowned. That was the ONLY time I took off my life jacket, and I regretted it. You may look a little dorky, but TRUST me, it'll become your new best friend. :) Relax and have fun. You WILL float back up and be fine.

  6. just tell ur friend that u already hav plans 4 the weekend then u dont even hav 2 tell her that u cant swim!

  7. The wisest decision to take, is not to go. Instead take up a swimming course without delay. Life is very unpredictable and risks of drowning in a lake, river, sea and many other places are always there and real.

All it takes for a non-swimmer to drown, is a minute of panic and gulping down some water, before sinking to the bottom. And if no one sees and comes to your rescue for 4mins or longer, you may not survive. When you jump from a height of 3-5 m it is likely for you to sink 3m. But you may hit the water wrongly and suffer great pain in the thighs and groin area. You are likely to run out of breath and gulp water, even before you reach the surface. You need good sculling and kicking techniques for a quicker return to the surface.

So proper skills in swimming is still the answer for safety. Cheers! :-))

  8. you can probably go for at least 30 seconds underwater and be fine. just kick you legs to get back to the surface. also wear some sort of flotation device...

  9. wear a life jacket my cousin didnt learn to swim till he was like 8
