Turkey is great, don't be put off by some of the comments above.  Yeah you can get dodgy t-shirts,Rolex watches etc but nobody in their right mind would think they were real for the price theyre asking.  The food is good, but like anywhere you do have to pick and choose where you go to eat, just as you would at home with the chinese/indian takeaway!  Go where the most Turks are eating, you'll find that's where the food is good.  As for beer, it's around the 3.5-4 YTL in a bar, thats about £1.50, but some of the tourist places are more expensive.  Remember it is a Muslim country, so spirits are a little overpriced unless you aren in a Bar street where they are in serious competition.  Have a great holiday

Depends on what part you are going but everything is cheap. Becareful where you eat and make sure to take your time chosing your places to eat.

trips out are great value for money.

I went last year, and hated it. (apart from ephasis) We were bombarded in every shop, the food was rancid, and our hotel in Kusadasi was bloody awful. (Daisy Hotel Kusadasi ....BEWARE)  I bought some leather handbags back, that cost me loads of money, and they fell apart within a month. If you are prepared to really barter, you might get a bargain, but if you're not the type to barter, (I'm not) it's just as expensive as anywhere else.

Kefalonia in greece is where I wanna be, they can stick Turkey.
