i will be going to the u.s for 90 days on vwp

if the POE asks how long i am here for what shall i say 90 days or 3 months?

my flight intinerary says my return date, as it is an e-ticket, the flight ticket won't be issued until i check in returning back to the UK.

also what docs just in case they ask for do i show them, i am currently unemployed, so a letter from employer saying that i will be coming back i cannot have because like i said no job so what other docs do i show them just in case to prove to them that i will be returning back to the UK?

  1. What would be so tough about telling the truth? If you want to stay 3 months, and you are asked how long you plan to stay, there isn't any good reason for you to embellish your answer in an attempt to say something else in order to "look good."

The passenger ticket record is available to CBP at airports of entry. It's easy enough to check which date you've selected for your return trip.

The VWP was designed to facilitate travel for those individuals who would easily qualify for a tourist visa if they applied for one. It bypasses the usual visa issuing procedures. If it is clearly apparent that an applicant for admission under the VWP would have zero trouble obtaining a tourist visa, they are admissible under the program.

You will have to meet the burden of proof that you have a foreign residence abroad to which you intend to return, that the center of your vital interests is outside the U.S., and that you have sufficient funds to support yourself throughout the duration of your stay and to accomplish the purpose of your trip without having to accept employment.

  2. Only answer the questions asked, and only provide information asked for.

As an analogy, I always use the following:

If asked "Do you know what time it is?" You answer either "yes" or "no". Not "it's 10:30am".

If they ask how long you're here for, say 90 days. Show the return eticket if asked for it.

Perhaps a rental agreement or a mortgage agreement which shows you have an asset you need to return to would indicate you intend to return back to the UK. Generally speaking a return flight ticket is enough.
