Gokhan Inler satisfied with the result against Manchester City and all-praise for defenders
Napoli midfielder, Gokhan Inler, is delighted with a 1-1 draw against Manchester City in the opening game of the 2011/2 UEFA Champions League at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, September 14th, 2011.
Inler, who joined the club in the summer has hailed the defensive performance of his team and believes that the boys defended really well despite starting the game on back foot. City dominated throughout the game and kept almost
70 percent off the possession but http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 scored the first goal of the match.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Edinson-Cavani-c11955 provided his team with a crucial 69th minute strike which was cancelled out by Aleksandar Kolarov’s stunning free-kick goal six minutes later. The Swiss international believes that his team has won a very
crucial point against the Mancunian Blue side and it could prove to be a deciding factor in their qualification to the next round.
The 27-year-old believes that his team is placed in the toughest group and each and every point will matter here. The former Zurich star praised his team for a good start to the season but believes that the real test for them will
be after six games.
Talking to the reporters Inler said, "It was a very important point because this group is very tough and every point is vital. We know that at home they press very well and are strong, but we were well organised in defence and
counter-attacked well in the second half and got a goal.”
"We showed we're a strong team defensively, a young team that wants to do well. We played away from home and got a point, this is good but every game will be difficult and we have to play them and see where we are after the six games."
The Partenopei will face Italian Champions, A.C Milan, in their next league game at the Stadio San Paolo on September 18th, 2011. On the other hand, they will host Spanish side, Villarreal, in their next Champions League
game on September 27th, 2011.
