Golakhour Pourseyedi wins second stage 2011 Tour of Singkarak: Cycling News
Golakhour Pourseyedi of the Azad University team won the third stage of 2011 Tour of Singkarak on Wednesday, June 8. The second stage winner, Amir Zargari retained his overall leader’s yellow jersey.
The race started in Pariaman and ended in Bukit. The 25-year-old Golakhour took a total of 3 hours, 21 minutes and 40 seconds to cover a distance of 102 kilometres.
His team-mate, Amir Zargari, was in second place with the same timing of Iranian. The second stage runner-up grabbed the third place, while Ki Ho Choi of Hong Kong-China was in the fourth spot with a difference of 3 minutes and 53 seconds.
After winning the stage, Golakhour Pourseyedi told the media, “[Stage 3] was one of the hardest tracks on the tour. Fortunately, we managed to lead and had good teamwork so we could make a significant time gap with second group.”
With 22 kilometres to go, Amir Zargari won the title of first King of Mountain (KOM) with overall 25 points and Ki Ho Choi of Hong Kong-China was in second spot with 19 points. Rahim Emami also from Azad University was in third place with 15 points.
A group of four-riders made their first break-away in the last 59 kilometres, including, Chan Jae Jang (Terengganu Pro-AsiaCycling Team), His team-mate, Mohd Harrif Salleh, Herwin Jaya (Polygon Sweet Nice –Surabaya) and Projo Waseso (United Bike Kencana-
Malang).
All the four-riders gained an advantage over the peloton, but Herwin and Projo were caught and the other two riders maintain his pace. Jang won the first sprint of the race ahead of his team-mate, Mohd Harrif Salleh.
Jang said, “[Harrif] took the first lead, but then I reached the finish line [of the sprint point] first. I thank my team for their support. Hopefully, we will be able to retain the jersey [on Thursday],”
Chelly Aristya took the title of Best Indonesian rider, ahead of Hari Fitrianto and Agung Alisyahbana.
Amir Zargari also took an overall lead with a timing of 7 hours, 9 minutes and 47 seconds. Rahim Emami was in the second spot with 6 seconds behind Amir.
Stage winner, Golakhour Pourseyedi was in the third spot with a difference of 1 minute and 48 seconds.
The next stage will start in Bukittinggi and end in Lembah Harau. All the riders will cover a distance of 59 kilometres.
