  1. that depends what you are used to. You certainly won't see any locals in the water unless they are surfers in steamers or have just moved to the Gold Coast from England! It is the middle of winter. If you want to enjoy the fantastic beaches of the Gold Coast I suggest you go after November!

  2. Most Australians on the Gold Coast wouldn't go in the water at this time of year. There will probably be many surfers going in to the waves wearing a wet suit.. but as July its the height of the Aussie winter, you probably wont find any of us swimming in winter. Much better to wait till at least September for swimming. =)

  3. That depends what temperatures you are used to. Many people swim here in the ocean all through the year the water temperature is usually 19 in winter . To cold for me but I'm soft and love the heat. I'll certainly walk along the edge. Our winters are beautiful. Very little rain if any , lovely sunny days and cool nights. I guess once your body has got used to the water with a quick dive in it would be good and maybe colder when you get out. Many of the hotel swimming pools are heated in winter. You wouldn't get me in an un heated one in July. People surf all year around here but they wear body suits. Just remember if you do swim in the ocean only go between the flags . we have life guards on duty all year around and there are some dangerous rips and a couple of weeks ago we had 2 drownings . the people came out from a night club before the life guards were on duty and went for a 5 am swim. . You will love our beaches. they are glorious
