Question:

Gold Coast or Cairns?

Im studying abroad from July until december in australia, however I keep flipping back and forth between James Cook in Cairns and Griffith in Gold Coast. Anyone have any advice?

  1. I think Jennifer is right, and the gold coast is the better option. If you were visiting for a short holiday in winter then I would have said Cairns was better, but to live for 6 months including some hotter months you'll enjoy the gold coast much more.


  2. The GoldCoast for sure. Cairns weather would be great in July but come mid september on wards it will be hot sticky and very humid until the big rains come about November. The GoldCoast is much bigger. Griffith is handy to facilities . the bus goes to the door. Beautiful weather wonderful beaches. cheaper shopping. Rents are not cheap though but that depends on if you share accomodation.

  3. I'm a Griffith student and love it. I don't know anything about James Cook sorry.

    Gold Coast has lots of sharhouseing for students, plenty of jobs, great beaches, and lots of night clubs. The down side is the public transport on the coast if awful so you really need a car.
