Gold Fish Thinks Hes A Piranha?

Question

Ive had two piranhas now for quite sometime now. Well i usually feed them goldfishes and no problem they gobble them up. Well 2 weeks ago when i feed them i noticed 1 gold fish survived by hiding inside a shell i have in their tank. I thought "oh it'll be a matter of time before they find him". so i forgot about it and didn't pay much attention to it. Well yesterday I was ready to feed them and I noticed there was three fished swimming around. It was the gold fish. How crazy. he was all beat up but he survived. The weird thing was that when I threw in their food (other fish) the piranhas didn't attack it and the goldfish was swimming all over the place exited like the piranhas get when they eat, except he would let the piranhas make a mess of the meat and the goldfish would eat the small pieces. Why do you think this happens?, do you think they'll eat him later?

Ok anywayss...

Gold fish will eat just about anything, and its probably starving.

I think the piranhas will continue to nibble on him so for his sake get him his own tank, bring him back to the pet store or feed him to someone quick. Poor lil guy!

Also, feeder fish can often be sick so I wouldn't want to keep him in the Piranha tank for a long time.

fish are hard to understand my oscar lived in harmony with a little feeder fish. Is the fish to big for the too eat? oh never mind piranhas tear up they food don't that.

The goldfish was starving. Of course he's going to be excited about any food he could get his mouth on. He doesn't think he's a piranha in the least. He somehow survived, and is now starving. Goldfish are also opportunistic feeders so dead fish would not cause the goldfish to think twice about eating it.

He  is either too big to eat or he got away and found a small hiding place. The piranhas have been picking at him, you said he was all beat up, and they will continue to pick at him till he dies. For the feeder's sake, either give him his own tank for being a trooper and surviving, give him back to where you bought him from to resell or rehabilitate or find a bigger fish to feed him to.
