Gold coast?

im going to gold coast on 25th june 2008. it should be winter time, right? please recommend me which place to go and what food to eat and also where to shop. TQ!

Hi there, winter is a funny thing here on the coast. Take today for instance, Jumpers and long pants and its still got that chill in the air - however 2 days ago - shorts and t shirt day with loads of sunshine and beach going fun!. So yes its winter but its still got some beautiful days to relax in the sun, and yes you still get burnt on winters days so the SPF still needs to be packed.

As for food there is a great website called  good restaurant guide -

I have used these guys a few times and they have always been on the mark so i would keep to what they say - just look per suburb that you are in like broadbeach, gold coast and alike - the surf clubs do have some great food but so do the not to known restaurants so hunt around on the site and head to that restaurants. I have not been disappointed yet!.

Shopping is not as good as what you might think - there is loads of expensive shops in Pacific Fair - which is the broadbeach mega centre with levels of stuff - then there is Robina town centre - again HUGE mega shopping centres.

Bargain shopping best place is in Helensvale - full of discounts and last run of stocks - DJ's has their clearence and so does that good female clothing stores.

Yes it is winter, but the day time temperature is about 25 degrees Celsius, night about 12-14.  You just have to walk around and follow your nose on the best place to eat, there are many different cuisines on the Gold Coast, sushi train to very expensive restaurants, Asian, steak, you name it you can find it to eat.  Also many places to shop, if you can, and you have a hire car or just catch a bus, go to Broadbeach, a little south or Tweed Heads, also a little south.  The local Surf Life Saving Clubs, just please ask any local to direct you have really really good food, all different kinds, cold beer and other drinks and 95 percent of the time are right on the beach, so you go and sign in as a visitor at the door, go up and eat lunch or dinner on balcony and maybe see a whale going past, or at least watch the sun, surf and swimmers.
