Gold gourami chasing each other?

I have a male gold gourami and one female. the male is chasing the female around the aquarium. is this normal breeding behavior,or will it end? If so, when?

  1. How old are your gouramis, are they breeding age?  It is a good idea to condition your fish for breeding if that's what you want.  Put the female in a separate tank with 6-8" water level for a few weeks.  Then introduce the male.  She will build a bubblenest.  Once the bubblenest is done, the male begins courting the female.  He swims around the female flaring his fins, trying to draw her to the nest.  Providing the female has accepted the male she starts to join the male swimming in circles under the nest.  The rest is history!!

    Do some research on gourami breeding habits.

  2. How do you know you have a male and female?(let me guess Petco told you)You may have two males and they are fighting.
