If you have a credit card you can use the xbox and if not you can buy a card and enter the number on the redeem codes part of the xbox.

well, normally you purchase a 360 goldmembership card, you can buy them in most gameing stores.

Then providing your xbox is set up to the internet, you can type the code on the card into the marketplace section. hope this helps.
