Golden Chieftain looking good for Bathwick Tyres Bridgwater Novices´ Chase at Wincanton
Two geldings and a mare will compete in the Bathwick Tyres Bridgwater Novices´ Chase at Wincanton on Thursday, March 08, 2012. Their names are: Golden Chieftain, Timmies Gone and Sleeping Volcano.
According to the plan, the 3m1f110y event is due to commence at 15:35 (GMT). All contenders will try their best to secure top place in the Class-3 competition.
The winner will earn a cash prize of £5,653. The going looks good to soft and an entertaining contest is on the cards. Bettor.com presents an exclusive preview in order to help the punters bet their money meticulously.
Golden Chieftain is likely to be given the highest odds today. The seven-year-old is yet to taste success this year, but that does not take anything away from him.
In his latest outing, the gelding completed the order of finish, ending up third in the Lewis Civil Engineering Novices' Chase at Chepstow.
Despite an unimpressive show last time around, the bookmakers are showing confidence on him. His last triumph came in November, when Colin Tizzard’s trainee outplayed his opponents in the Direct Telecoms Beginners' Chase at Uttoxeter.
Timmies Gone will also look to grab the glory. The seven-year-old has not been doing a decent job since his comeback in November last year. After sealing an emphatic victory in June 2010, the gelding went out of action.
After staying in the wilderness for more than a year, he returned in November, finishing seventh in the Injured Jockeys Fund Novices' Chase at Exeter. In his latest trip, Keiran Burke’s trainee was below par, as his jockey had to pull up just before the
finish.
Sleeping Volcano is also out of rhythm at the moment. Out of her last four races, the nine-year-old forced her rider to pull up thrice.
With such a poor track record, it will be dangerous to bet on her. The mare is yet to taste victory in her career, but an upset cannot be ruled out.
Prediction
With both of his rivals in poor form, Golden Chieftain is in good position to seal an easy win today. He has nabbed four triumphs so far in his career.
Despite being in good position, the bay gelding cannot afford to be complacent, as
Timmies Gone might come up with an upset.
