Golden Chieftain to shine bright in the Badger Ales Trophy Handicap Chase (Listed Race)
The Class 1 Badger Ales Trophy Handicap Chase (Listed Race) has brought together a highly competitive and versatile field of thirteen four-year and older runners. They are taking the three mile, a furlong and 110 yard challenge at Wincanton race course on
Saturday, 10th November.
The highlight entries are from the stable of trainer, Paul Nicholls, Michel Le Bon and No Loose Change. Last four years have seen its three winners coming from the same stable, and four out of the last eight editions.
A highly interesting entry from the trainer who began the season with a bang is the Colin Tizzard trained, Golden Chieftain.
The seven-year-old, Golden Chieftain, has maintained the form, and in case he keeps up with that, then winning the race that is over a distance and at a race course over which he has been successful already, is no big deal.
He has raced seven times during the current season, and has bagged the prize money of two of the races.
The Colin Tizzard was the favourite winner of the Bathwick Tyres Bridgwater Novices’ Chase on 8th March, 2012 at Wincanton over three miles and 1 ½ furlongs.
The Irish bay gelding was paired up against the stable jockey, Joe Tizzard. The favourite entry had drawn clear just when the final four furlongs waited to be raced over, and preceded unchallenged through the trip that comprised of twenty-one fences throughout
the distance.
He defeated Timmies Gone by the massive margin of thirty-six lengths.
The next time that he landed a race was during his most recent outing.
The seven-year-old out of, Golden Flower, was impressive in the Richard Davis Memorial Handicap Chase on 24th October, 2012 at Worcester over two miles and four furlongs.
With the regular jockey, Joe Tizzard, onboard, he cornered Prince Buster into the second slot.
He is backed by 13 to 2 odds, and has the support of his partner in success jockey. He will need to look out for the 4 to 1 shot for the race, Michel Le Bon, who will be guided through the track distance by one of the best in the business, jockey, Ruby Walsh.
