What is the Golden Eagle's purpose in its surrounding environment? How does it interact with it? What are the benefits of having them around? What are the consequences if they go extinct?

Golden Eagles are at the top of the food chain.  They keep rabbit, fox, deer, occasionally wolf, and other large mammal and bird populations down and from exploding.  Sometimes this is a bad this, especially if they are hunting wolves, which were previously on the threatened species list.  The benefits of having them around is that they keep prey populations intact and in check, and they are good falconry birds for falconers who want to hunt large game.  If they were to go extinct, they prey populations would explode, of course, there are other hunters of that certain prey, but they would still gain population.


  2. They're an Alpha Predator, they keep the pest levels down, and removing them from the environment would lead to a increase in various animals as there would no longer be any of these eagles to eat them anymore.
