Golden State Warriors’ David Lee given green signal to start light training
After starting the season 6-2, the Golden State has conceded six of the last seven games, last four on a trot, and the beleaguered Warriors need all the inspiration they can get to return to the winning ways.
They have got a boost alright, as it was revealed Thursday that that their star forward David Lee has been cleared to resume light training and conditioning. The news comes nearly two weeks after Lee endured a cut in his left elbow
in an inadvertent collision with Wilson Chandler in the November 10 matchup against his former franchise New York Knicks.
He had his first surgery on Friday night to remove a fragment of Wilson Chandler’s tooth from the inside of his elbow, but could not recover completely and had to undergo another procedure Monday night.
Post surgery, he made extremely good progress, including a complete omission of redness and the near-complete removal of swelling around the elbow. Lee’s left arm was splinted to restrict movement and he was put on antibiotics
under the care of Dr. Chen.
On Thursday, the stitches from his elbow and the IV catheter were removed and the Warriors will want him to return to his full flow on the court soon to change the fortunes for the franchise.
Lee had been pivotal to the Warriors’ success early in the season. Being the focal point of the Warriors’ offense, the phenomenal power forward had recorded six double-doubles in his first eight games as a Warrior and averaged
14.3 points, 11.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.
To signify what the Warriors have really been missing, the Warriors are 6-0 in the season when David Lee has notched double-figures in both points and rebounds.
Lee, who was named 2009-10 Eastern Conference All-Star, had also been the backbone of the Warriors’ defensive plans and was instrumental in making the crucial plays for the Golden State Warriors setting solid pick and rolls for
Monta Ellis, who was the league’s top scorer till the time Lee departed.
The Warriors have had it really tough in his absence and they will be desperately hoping he returns to the court soon as they prepare to tackle the Memphis Grizzlies in their own backyard.
