Golden State Warriors’ combo guard Ellis Monta still under the trade radar – NBA Update
Who is at a loss and who will benefit from the Monta Ellis trade? That is the question roaming around whole of Oakland. Word has it that the Golden State Warriors are willing to trade Monta Ellis.
Monta Ellis is a true talent who plays a fast game, giving his team enough chances to score. Without him, the Warriors will be left somewhat in jeopardy on the front court. The franchise that is most interested in acquiring his
services is Orlando Magic.
Monta Ellis is not only a consistent 25 plus scorer but has gradually developed into a swift facilitator.  Ellis’ assists in the last two seasons speak for themselves. He had an average of 5.3 and 5.6 assists in the 2009-10 and
2010-11 seasons respectively. Without Ellis, the Warriors’ offensive prowess is bound to be affected considerably.
Ellis has been the main scorer for the Warriors for some time and although, they have got the likes of Stephen Curry, Dorrell Wright and David Lee, none of them have the ability to single handedly turn the game around – a trait
which Ellis has made his own in the last season. He was the architect of numerous last quarter surges that the Warriors unleashed throughout the regular season and was the key in making the Warriors one of the offensive power houses in the league.
The rumoured trade can see the Warriors send Monta Ellis, Andris Biedrins and Ekpe Udoh to Orlando Magic. What the Magic will give in return is not sure as yet but it can come down to Jameer Nelson or ex-Warrior Gilbert Arenas.
The trade can bring some positive flow for the Magic, especially when they are desperate to build a team around Dwight Howard, which can satisfy him and force him to sign a contract extension. Monta Ellis is a rare talent and is
a more consistent shooter than anybody available in the present Orlando roster.
Prior to this, Ellis was linked with a possible trade involving him heading to the Philadelphia 76ers and Andre Iguodala coming to join the Warriors camp. However, this trade although feasible for both sides, seems to have been
put on the back burner. The one thing that is simply not fading away though is that the Warriors want to get rid of their premium guard. The reason for that is the poor defensive execution of the star player that harmed the Oakland based franchise on numerous
occasions during the last season.
The Monta Ellis’ trade news is still hot and new rumours just keep on making it more and more interesting. How long will the Golden State Warriors hold on to him is anyone’s guess.
