Golden State Warriors forward Dorell Wright credits hard work for his improved shooting – NBA Update
Golden State Warriors star Dorell Wright was a revelation last season after joining the side in the summer from the Miami Heat. He registered himself as a genuine force on offence and his shooting from beyond the arc was particularly
impressive throughout the season. In an interview, Wright revealed the secret behind his success; hard work.
The player who shares floor space with the scoring machine Monta Ellis and the excellent Stephen Curry, made a name for himself last season thanks to his precision shooting that allowed his side to stretch the floor and really
hurt teams on the perimeter as well.
Wright’s performance in the three-point contest at the All-Star weekend also endeared him to basketball fans and helped raise his profile, even though he lost out to former teammate James Jones of the Miami Heat.
The Golden State man said it was all due to the hard work and extended hours he put in at the gym and there were no shortcuts to success.
“That right there is all doing the hard work. A lot of hours in the gym and that’s why I was able to be so consistent last year from the three-point line. Day in and day out I was at the gym working on my three-point shot. So once
the season started it all started clicking. Just the things I’ve been doing since my first year, it all started to make sense. Playing my game and having the opportunity and the confidence to go out there and play at a high level each and every night.”
In his newfound role as one of the top three point shooters in the NBA Wright seems a good candidate to judge his colleagues as well. He was asked during the interview who he thought were the best from beyond the arc currently
in league.
Not surprisingly former teammate and current All-star weekend 3-point contest winner James Jones of the Miami Heat made the list. So did the legendary Boston Celtics guard Ray Allen. Allen is regarded as one of the most deadly
from downtown in the history of the game and overtook Indiana Pacers legend Reggie Miller for the most 3-point shots made in NBA history last season.
A few other names, including current Golden State Warriors teammate Stephen Curry, also made it onto Dorell’s list,
“I’d have to go with James Jones at the top, Ray Allen for sure, Stephen Curry, Anthony Morrow and Jason Kapono.”
Anthony Morrow is a former Golden State Warriors guard currently playing for the New Jersey Nets and Jason Kapono plays for the Philadelphia 76ers.
