Golden State Warriors leading Charlotte Bobcats with 50-44
Nerves were frayed. Officials were scorned. Frustration reached all the way to the rafters. The buzzer sounded to officially start the game between the Golden State Warriors and Charlotte Bobcats at ORACLE Arena.
First quarter recap
Both teams started ice cold but the Warriors got off to some tenacious shots, using quality defense and efficient scoring to take a 15-9 lead at 05:45 mark. On the other hand, the Bobcats got a little bit loose around the mid-way point of the quarter, turning
the ball over and missing easy shots.
The Warriors shot only one free throw in the first quarter, on a gift call awarded to David Lee, revealing a team that was settling for perimeter jump shots and not attacking the basket.
The Warriors got 3-pointers from Dorell Wright and Stephen Curry in the opening quarter, shooting 54 percent. They went ahead by as many as 9 on a late Wright driving layup shot.
Five players scored for the Golden State in the first as the Warriors took a six-point lead to the second.

Quotable
Golden State coach Keith Smart said, "The NBA takes two things - effort and toughness, and if you've got effort and you have toughness, you're going to have a chance to play against any team in the National Basketball Association. If you do not show any
of that against the good teams, they are going to force their will. And we did not force our will early in the game".
