Golden State Warriors looking to trade all four of their draft picks - NBA Report
Golden State Warriors is one franchise that has its hands full of draft picks this season. But, it seems that the franchise is looking to use these picks as a bait to make some trades and add more versatility to their roster.
The Warriors have the number 7 and 30th pick in the 1st round and 35 and 52 as the second round picks. According to Rusty Simmons of San Francisco Chronicle, Golden State are not going to keep all of their
4 drafts.
“The team is considering a number of options for its four draft picks, including trading some or all of them for a current NBA starter such as Andre Iguodala, trading up in the draft to get a top-five prospect like Michael Kidd-Gilchrist
or even moving back in the draft to secure future assets”.
The first priority for the Warriors is the small forward position and for that they are willing trade their number 7 overall pick along with Dorell Wright, to rope in Andre Iguodala from Philadelphia 76ers. Rudy g*y of the Memphis
Grizzlies is another option along with Nicolas Batum of the Portland Trail Blazers and Luol Deng from Chicago Bulls.
Next on the Warriors wish list is a quality point guard and for that Jason Kidd, Kirk Hinrich and Raymond Felton have been targeted.
If this plan doesn’t work out then according to Simmons, Warriors will send their all of 4 picks to Charlotte Bobcats or Washington Wizards to get their number 2 or 3 pick in return. This will allow them to draft Michael Kidd-Gilchrist,
who is an established wingman.
Warriors’ General Manger Bob Myers recently admitted that having 4 drafts has provided them with a lot of room to manoeuvre in the free agency.
"Having four picks is a tremendous situation to be in, and I think we can do some good things with it," Warriors GM Bob Myers said. "We're excited. We have a tremendous amount of assets, which puts us in good shape to explore
a variety of opportunities."
The new owners of the franchise have been very keen to re-build the team. They traded Monta Ellis late last season to bring some depth in the front court, which came in the form of Andrew Bogut. David Lee had a good last season
and with Stephen Curry rehabbing well from a nagging knee injury, the arrival of a solid player will help the franchise in becoming on the powerhouses of the Western Conference once again.
