Golden State Warriors outclass Chicago Bulls 99 - 91: NBA Update
After edging past the Los Angeles Lakers on Christmas day, Chicago Bulls headed to Oakland in what was supposed to be a relatively easier game for the men from windy city.
However, on the night, they came up against a team which outclassed them in every department of the game, winning it by 99-91. The Warriors outshot the Bulls, spread the floor better and forced 20 turnovers on the night. Although
out-rebounded by 47-36, they had more points in the paint and also in transition.
Led by Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry, the Warriors reeled off a 30-11 run bridging the first and the second quarter to set the pace. In the third quarter, David Lee joined the party and despite of a late surge by the Bulls, the
Warriors were never threatened.
Ellis led the Warriors with a game high 26 points on a 10 of 17 shooting from the floor and 7 assists. Stephen Curry, the third year guard shrugged off a disappointing season opener against the Los Angeles Clippers with 21 points,
10 assists, 7 rebounds and a game high six steals in 37:29 minutes of action. David Lee had 22 points while Dorell Wright finished the game with 13 points on 6 of 10.
For the Bulls, ace man Derrick Rose had a shooting nightmare. The reigning MVP was completely blocked off by the Warriors defence and finished with only 13 points on a 4 of 17 effort. Luol Deng completed a double-double with 22
points and 10 rebounds; CJ Watson had 13 off the bench, Kyle Korver had 11 while Ricard Hamilton scored all 10 points in the first half.
The Bulls were trailing by 41-57 at the interval and brought their deficit to 55-69 midway through the third. The Warriors responded swiftly with a 9-4 run to take a 78-59 lead, before Watson made two free throw to end the frame
at 61-78.
Bulls made a run for the win in the last frame and with 4:25 to go, Deng knocked down a three to close in at 83-91. A cold shooting passage followed and the Bulls were still trailing by 8 (93-85) with 1:44 to go. In the last minute,
Kyle Korver made two long range efforts, but by then it was already too late. The Warriors fed off the Bulls fouls down the stretch and cruised to a 99-91 win.
