Golden State Warriors rally in the second half to stun the New York Knicks 92-78: NBA Recap

A night after they humbled the much fancies Chicago Bulls, the Golden State Warriors took on the powerful New York Knicks in their third game of the season. The Warriors were playing without Stephen curry, the third year point
guard, who missed the game to rest his injured right knee. However, his absence did not hurt the Warriors much and they broke away in the second half to stun the Knicks 92-78.
The Warriors kept the Knicks honest throughout the first quarter and were trailing by just 21-23, going into the second quarter. The quickly converted their two point deficit into a 25-23 lead in the second only to be struck with
an 8-0 run in the next three minutes. The Knicks kept on charging and took their 40-32 on a Carmelo Anthony bank shot with 2:33, before Monta Ellis scored five points to end the first half at 37-43.
The Knicks had a 48-40 advantage inside the first four minutes, but the Warriors rattled them with a 17-6 run in the next five and a half minutes to take a 57-54 lead. Keyed by Amare’ Stoudemire, the Knicks found a 64-61 lead again,
but a Brandon Rush buzzer beater ensured that the last quarter started with the scores level at 64.
The Warriors took the game to the Knicks early in the fourth. They converted their defence into offense and bolted off a 14-4 run in the first five minutes to take a 78-68 lead. A Stoudemire jumper later, another 11-0 run, featuring
three 3’s followed and the Knicks were effectively knocked over. The visitors made some garbage time shots down the stretch but lost out 78-92.
Monta Ellis marshalled the Warriors with 22 points and 8 assist; Rush came off the bench for 19 points and 6 boards while David Lee had 13. Golden State converted 45.2 percent of their field goal attempts and out rebounded the
Knicks 47-31.
New York were Stoudemire, who had 16-10 double-double. Bill Walker and Landry Fields had 14 apiece while Carmelo Anthony had an off night with 13 points. Anthony and Stoudemire combined for a 8 of 27 shooting on the night, while
Tyson Chandler had 2 points in 21:34 minutes.
