Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry will love to play Charlotte Bobcats – someday: NBA News
Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry has been a busy man during the NBA lockout. Apart from getting married, the former Charlotte Christian School standout has been engrossed in working out with his teammates, completing his
degree and nursing his troublesome ankle injury.
However, none of his activities thus far had been more significant from purely professional point of view as his recently revealed desire to play for the Charlotte Bobcats.
On Thursday, in an interview with Charlotte Observer, Curry said that he will be interested to adorn Bobcats’ uniform if the opportunity ever comes up.
“Of course I’d like to play here – its home and I know a lot of people.”
However, fearing a backlash from his present franchise, the combo guard was quick to add that he had no plans to leave the Warriors at the moment;
“But that doesn’t mean I’m trying to get out of Golden State. There’s no reason I would not want to play in Charlotte. Maybe the pressure of being around family all the time would affect some people, but I wouldn’t be opposed to
any of that.”
Stephen Curry’s interest to play in Charlotte is mainly because of the time he has spent there during his school and college life.
Stephen earned the reputation of an active basketball player North Carolina while he was attending Charlotte Christian School. After leading his school to three Conference titles and three state post-season appearances, Curry was
named as the All-Conference, All-State and Most Valuable Player (MVP).
After failing to receive any scholarship despite of the success he had in high school, Curry joined Davidson College in North Carolina. It was there Stephen soon earned the reputation of one of the best college players from Charlotte
and his presence transformed Davidson’s team into a formidable threat.
Curry played for three seasons with the Davidson Wildcats and recorded an average of 25.3 points and 4.5 rebounds before making himself available for the 2009 NBA Draft. He was picked by the Golden State Warriors and had to leave
Charlotte for the first time in his basketball career.
Curry’s statement does create a bit of a dilemma for the Warriors. The guard is considered as one of the players around which the Oakland franchise is trying to build up a strong future. If he receives an offer from the Bobcats,
once his contract at Warriors expires, we can be in for a real situation.
