Golden State Warriors upset San Antonio Spurs 107-101 in overtime: NBA Recap
Coming into the night, the Golden State Warriors had lost their last 16 fixtures against the San Antonio Spurs, but Jarrett Jack single handedly carried his team on Friday night to beat the best team in the West Conference 107-101
in overtime.
Jack nailed 7 of his game high 30 points in the last 92 seconds of overtime to lift the Warriors to a hard fought win. This was their first win over the Spurs since 2008, and it was the San Antonio’s second loss in their last 17
games.
Jack dished out 10 dimes to complement his 30 points. Stephen Curry supported him well with 19 points and 6 dimes while David Lee produced a full court performance with 25 points and 22 rebounds in the winning cause.
Tony Parker, who had an amazing against the Los Angeles Clippers earlier this week, was a bit off colour tonight and scored 18 points in 7 of 18 shooting from the floor. Danny Green had 20 pints while Tim Duncan had another day
at the double-double office with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
"There was a point in time in the fourth quarter and overtime where [Warriors coach Mark Jackson] yelled at me and told me to get to my spot and take us home. I love him for having that confidence in me. I just tried to come back
and deliver for him." Jack said after the game.
Warriors were not in control of the game early on and were trailing 67-80 after allowing Spurs to score 12 quick points early in the fourth period. But they were not to be silenced that easily and came back with a 13 for none run
to tie the score with about 6 minutes remaining in the regulation. It remained close till the end of the period and Ginobili made a layup with the regulation clock ticking to tie the score and take the game into overtime.
In overtime, Jack took control for the Warriors and secured the win for them. In doing so, he became the first player after Magic Johnson to come off the bench and score 30 points and dish out 10 assists.
