Golden Ticket and Holiday Promise will battle it out at Lexington to land a spot in the Kentucky Derby
With the Kentucky Derby just around the corner, the trainers are hoping that the possible contenders will be able to secure a position in the Run for the Roses 5 May, 2012 at Churchill Downs.

The final stop before the big day is the Coolmore Lexington Stakes, as a victory in this will confirm a golden ticket to the prestigious race.
So far, none of the contenders look strong enough to make it to the Kentucky Derby, the contenders competing at Lexington are all strong, but none of them stand out particularly.
The Coolmore Stakes feature Castaway, who looks to have what it takes to win at this level. He already has graded earnings of $162,000 and could do with the prize of $200,000 in this race to qualify.
Golden Ticket may be able to shine in this event. Trained by Kenneth G. McPeek, the runner can really demonstrate his full potential on the track. McPeek talked to the press and stated that: “He’s on the upswing, which you always like to see this time
of year.”
The son of Speightstown, out of mare, Business Plan, previously competed in the Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby and managed to land a respectable finish.
Mounted by jockey, M. Cruz, he missed the victory by a marginal difference of ¾ of a length to the Mark Casse trained Prospective.
The bay brown colt that is bred by WinStar Farm LLC for owners, Magic City Thoroughbred Partners, has the potential to do great things. If he does manage to win, there is a great possibility that he will make it to the Kentucky Derby, which is anxiously
awaited by many.
Holiday Promise, son of Harlan´s Holiday, out of mare, Cross Your Heart, was whelped on 24th May, 2009.
The bay colt trained by Todd Pletcher finished as a runner-up in the Grade 3 Vinery Racing Spiral Stakes at Turfway Park on 24th March, 2012, where he missed the victory by 3 ½ lengths to Went The Day Well.
This high profile event has the best runners and it will be an exciting showdown.
