As a promotor surely Oscar De la Hoya has a duty to make a match that in the interest of safety is as well matched as possible.why then,is he insistent and picking fights with much smaller men.i find all this very distasteful and think that someone should put the man on the spot and ask him why he is pursuing smaller men,as heaven forbid, but it could end up in tragedy.

  1. Yeah this is a disgrace. I believe DLH makes like hes a nice guy on camera but behind he is this evil money grubbing SOB. I remember reading an article in Ring magazine where he would sit there for hours and hours counting money. He is the Bush of boxing. I dont trust him. The same goes for Hopkins too. I just think both of them are people of low character.

  2. I believe he did go the wrong way out of his career.... To me, i believe he can last all 12 rounds with margarito... if he fought margarito and lost by decision, all the fans would be cheering his name saying that he did his best and put on a great show..  but i bet that he watched his fight against steve forbes and we all did too... so he knows and we know, dat if a guy like that could land so much, den he may not be that good anymore... he sees, dat margarito throws more and lands more powerful one... but still, i see oscar going all the way... but i guess he doesnt want to take a beating to get all the way...

if he fought margarito and loss, a lot of respect for his courage and for his legacy... he fought everybody in his time and no one can take that from him... but if he doesnt, den he had left that one person out and everyone will question his legacy....  oscar vs. margarito Dec. 6, 2008

    make it happen

  3. you make some great points, but many people are not discounting manny so quickly.  there is a size differential, but swating at flys with a sledge hammer isn't so easy and watching oscar try to do that will be interesting.

hey, i'm a blogger for liverpuncher.com, they have a good boxing community i'm sure they would publish some of your stuff, you should check it out.

  4. Don't worry, Manny would clobber him.

  5. I have to agree with you quite a bit.  I will say this, and I have been saying this since 2004, that DLH no longer has the skills to compete at the highest levels.

I have gotten replies that point to the SD loss to May, and while DLH looked better against May than he did any of the 3 or 4 fighters he fought before May, the fact is, he didn't have the heart to win the fight.

He has plenty of heart to make money, and he wants to go out with a win.  There are NO marquee names within 2 weight divisions on either side of him that he can beat.

I hope manny whips him, I really do.  DLH is a disgrace to boxing for making this fight.
